Throughout this course and the year itself, I have spent a lot of time working with quotes and being able to properly insert them into my essays. It is difficult at first to find a quote and connect it, but annotating and underlining in active reading has helped me in achieving this learning outcome. In high school I had to write essays and cite them in MLA format, but in college I learned the real meaning they give in a text and how to properly use them in the right manner. I have been able to find the quotes that have enough information in order to support them fully with other information. Without the use of quotes, you can not properly cite an author and their work. I introduced my quotes as “The author, says…”, and supported them with a couple sentences explaining the quote and tying in the relevance it has to my essay. Examples for my quotes and paragraphs are listed below.
